Cookie Policy

1
What are cookies
A plain-language explanation

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. TextHours uses cookies and similar technologies on our marketing website and web application dashboard. This policy explains what we use, why, and what choices you have.

This policy applies to all visitors to texthours.com and to Employer users of the TextHours dashboard. It does not apply to contractors who interact with TextHours exclusively via SMS — those users do not use a web browser to interact with our service.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing tags, or any cookie that tracks you across other websites. We do not use Google Analytics.

3
Essential cookies
Cookies that are required for the service to work

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for TextHours to function. They enable core features such as logging into your account, staying authenticated while using the dashboard, and protecting your account from security attacks.

Essential cookies cannot be disabled without breaking the service. Under CCPA and GDPR, essential cookies do not require your consent because they are necessary for the performance of the service you have requested.

4
Analytics cookies
How we measure usage — and why ours are different

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand how visitors use our website. Plausible is specifically designed to comply with CCPA, GDPR, and PECR without requiring a cookie consent banner for analytics — because it collects no personal data and does not use persistent cookies or cross-site tracking.

Plausible does not store cookies on your device for analytics purposes, collect or store your IP address, track you across multiple websites, or build a profile of you or share data with advertising networks.

Why we chose Plausible over Google Analytics: Google Analytics collects significant personal data, requires consent under CCPA and GDPR, and sends data to Google's advertising infrastructure. Plausible gives us the page-level analytics we need without any of those privacy trade-offs — and without feeding data about your contractors' employer to Google.

5
California residents — CCPA rights
Your specific rights under California law

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives California residents specific rights regarding cookies and tracking technologies. Because TextHours does not use advertising cookies or sell personal data collected through cookies, many of the CCPA's more burdensome provisions do not apply to us.

Your CCPA rights regarding cookies and tracking

Right to know: You have the right to know what personal information we collect through cookies. The short answer: we collect session data (essential) and anonymized page-view analytics (Plausible). We do not collect personal data through cookies beyond what is necessary to maintain your logged-in session.

Right to opt out of sale/sharing: We do not sell personal information collected through cookies. We do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is nothing to opt out of in this regard.

Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA rights. Exercising your rights will not affect your ability to use TextHours.

To submit a CCPA request, contact us at privacy@texthours.com with “CCPA Request” in the subject line. We will respond within 45 days as required by law.

Your choice is stored in the th_consent cookie for one year. You can change your choice at any time by clicking “Cookie preferences” in the footer.

Do Not Track: TextHours honors Do Not Track signals by not activating any non-essential tracking when this signal is detected.

7
GDPR — users in the EEA and UK
For our international users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR applies to your use of TextHours. Our legal basis for using essential cookies is legitimate interest and performance of contract. Our legal basis for functional and analytics cookies is your consent, which you provide via our cookie banner.

You have the right to withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time. TextHours is primarily designed for US-based businesses. If you are accessing the service from the EEA or UK, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

How we'll notify you of updates

We may update this Cookie Policy as our technology or legal obligations change. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If we add new categories of cookies — particularly any advertising or cross-site tracking cookies — we will update this policy, reset your consent preference, and display the consent banner again.
